Vicki Broadus, RN

As a
registered nurse for 16 years, Vicki Broadus is experienced in
emergency, surgical and home health medicine and has worked with
victims of both traumatic and natural deaths and has pronounced
death many times. She is a highly trained professional capable of
recognizing causes of death, identifying disease processes,
medications and obtaining needed specimens. She is OSHA trained in
the transportation of bodies and in handling body fluids.
Mrs. Broadus is a certified bereavement facilitator who can
communicate effectively with family members after a death. She has
special training to work with different ethnic groups in our area
and with children involved in the grief process.
A professional for 35 years in the death and dying field, she has
personally participated in over 6,000 local funerals and is
dedicated to the families she serves. She has attended mortuary
science school where she completed courses including embalming,
advanced embalming and Thantochemistry, a science related directly
to changes which occur in a body after death. She has worked with
pathologists during autopsies and has also completed the Mississippi
Coroner-Medical Examiner Association curriculum for Death
Investigation.
Mrs. Broadus was cited for her involvement with the organ donor
program. As a certified eye enucleator (remove eyes after death for
transplants) she not only assists the family, honors the wishes of
the donor, but also helps in some way to restore sight to others.
Vicki Broadus has dedicated her life to the field of death and
dying and has prepared herself with education, experience and
training. She has proven her dedication to her community and her
strong belief in confidentiality and availability.
