Circuit Clerk
Joe Martin Jr. has served Jackson County in this position since 1980.
Before taking office, he worked in his family's business, Pugh's Florist
in Pascagoula.
A native of
Pascagoula, Circuit Clerk Martin was graduated from St. Stanislaus High
School in Bay St. Louis and Jackson County Junior College. He studied
criminal justice at the University of South Alabama and served six years
in the Mississippi National Guard.
A member of the
state Circuit Clerk's executive board, he has also served as president of
that organization. He is past president of United Way and serves on its
Board of Directors. He is a member of the Ocean Springs Chamber of
Commerce and helped coordinate the first Leadership Jackson County program
sponsored by the Jackson County Area and Ocean Springs Chambers of
Commerce.
Other
memberships include the Elks, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of
Columbus, and St. Martin Lions' Club. He was a member of the Jaycees and
supported the March of Dimes Walkathon by serving as Teamwalk Chairman for
many years. He attends Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church.
As Circuit
Clerk, Mr. Martin works diligently to ensure the integrity of voter
registration and elections. He carries out extensive voter registration
efforts including annual programs to register seniors from all eight high
schools in Jackson County.
