William Lee

A native
of Biloxi, Mississippi, William Lee is a graduate of Perkinston
Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree. He earned a
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern
Mississippi, where he majored in history and political science.
His
post-graduate degrees are in education and administration, having
earned M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees from the University of Southern
Mississippi.
A career
teacher and administrator, Mr. Lee has taught social studies in the
Pascagoula and Ocean Springs School Systems. Prior to being elected
superintendent of Jackson County School in November, 1989, he had
served as assistant principall of Ocean Springs High School,
principal of Vancleave High School, and assistant superintendent of
the Vancleave Schools.
Mr. Lee
is president of the Southern Education Consortium, vice president of
the Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium, chair of the
Education Division of the United Way, and a member of the American
Association of School Administrators, Mississippi Association of
School Superintendents, and Mississippi Association of School
Administrators.
As
superintendent, Mr. Lee oversees a school system that numbers 8,400
students and 550 teachers. The system has Level 5 Accreditation, the
highest given in the State of Mississippi.
