Tax Collector

Ann White

Ann White of Pascagoula, a Democrat, is a 27-year veteran in the Tax Collector's office and the second woman to hold the position in Jackson County (the first being Ms. Frances Rogers). White is proud of accomplishments like the opening of a satellite Tax Collector's office in West Jackson County where she installed one of the first drive-up windows for tax collection in the state.

During her tenure as Tax Collector, she started collecting city taxes for Pascagoula and Gautier, had the IBM computers in her department upgraded for speed, and put in place an improved cueing system to move people through waiting lines more quickly. She plans to install a payment drop-off station at the Jackson County Courthouse in Pascagoula.

Ms. White updates her skills and knowledge by attending an annual seminar of the Mississippi Tax Collector/Assessor Association.

A licensed minister of the Pentecostal Church, Ms. White belongs to First Pentecostal Church of Vancleave. She has served in the church bus ministry for 18 years, as church secretary/treasurer for 15 years, and taught Sunday School. She currently is enrolled in Bible Study classes.
